Why I Breed Birds

I breed birds because I love them, I find joy in observing their life cycle and educating others about them.  I also only breed one kind of bird:  Eclectus parrots.  Some of the subspecies I have are very threatened in their native environments, and those birds held outside their countries of origin may eventually be the only hope for their survival and reintroduction.  You can help to preserve them in their homelands by going here, Advocates for Bird Conservation, ABC.

I study constantly everything I can on how they live, eat and interact in their native environment, in order to better understand them and their unique perception of the world, and I freely share my findings and thoughts with others who also are studying this unique species.  Along the way, I have made some wonderful friends, observed some truly amazing birds, and found every question answered raises so many new ones.

I feel that by understanding as much as possible about the birds that I keep, that I can help the owners of the pets I raise, and others who are beginning to have an interest, to give their pet birds the best lives possible, free from unwitting anthromorphisation and misconception.
